Social media provides another channel for B2B marketing that can be very beneficial. Many B2C companies have been quick to embrace social media marketing to build brand awareness and introduce new product offerings to consumers. However, using social media in a B2B context requires a very different approach.

ROI on social media marketing investment is difficult to calculate, and many marketers don't even try to measure it for this reason. Yet it is very important to set goals at the outset of any social media campaign and find metrics by which to measure progress toward these goals. When integrating social media into an overall marketing strategy, you should ask yourself what can be gained from the medium and to make sure your expectations are realistic. Facebook and Twitter are best for improving your customer service, while LinkedIn is best for business recommendations and networking.
